Our 20ft open-side shipping containers have a pair of double-hinged doors along one side of the container giving full side access – as well as a pair of double doors at the end.
ALSO KNOWN AS FULL SIDE ACCESS OR FSA CONTAINERS
Open sided containers have doors along the 20ft side and at one end. They are ideal for storing long lengths of materials or pallets that need to be loaded by machine. Full-side access containers are also ideal for conversion into bundled containers for the storage of ISO tanks and barrels.
Made from durable corrosion-resistant Corten steel, this 20FT container is perfect for your home or business storage needs. Shipping containers are very secure, watertight and portable, should you need to relocate.
Our containers are manufactured to the highest standards with welded tie-down points included on both upper and lower rails, ten air vents to ensure good airflow, a lockbox for additional security, and a heavy-duty marine grade plywood floor that safeguards your valuables, keeping them clean and dry.

Recently we have seen a lot more interest in conversions, turning 20ft side opening shipping containers into self-contained mobile exhibition stands, cafes snack stands, and retail outlets. We also find these very popular for generator housings, biomass boilers, and for several specialised engineering applications.
As you look from the outside at the end opening doors, the side opening doors are always to the right-hand side of the unit as seen when looking at the standard cargo doors. Left-hand side opening containers are available sometimes but not as often we we’d like.
For export use these one-trip 20ft side opening shipping containers are very popular for vehicles or oversize items i.e. anything that you can’t easily load through the end doors of a container. If you need to store pallets but don’t want to spend your time digging out a pallet from the wrong end of a standard shipping container then this solution is ideal. Also, if you need rapid access to items, or if you’re storing any stock that is simply too big to fit through the end doors in a shipping container, a side-opening container is an ideal solution.
Regional availability and prices will vary slightly, so please contact us for a quote. As a rough guide, these are around twice the price of a standard, end-opening new build container – there’s a lot of specialized engineering that goes into these side doors and as they are specialist containers they aren’t built in the sorts of volumes that standard shipping containers are built in – so the factories can’t offer the same economies of scale.
If price is a major concern please do get in touch to discuss, we may be able to offer several other solutions such as fitting cargo doors or roller shutters into the side of a new or used shipping container. We may also be able to take a container and modify it to have curtain access along the side. Please be advised that these are sold as ‘one trip containers’ and are not brand new. All of our shipping containers are built in the factory in China or the Far East and have done 1 trip to the US since new. Some minor cosmetic wear may be evident from this initial trip. Minor dents and scrapes are reasonably common, as are tire marks inside your container where a forklift truck or similar may have unloaded goods from inside the container.
